Assist.Prof. Gökhan Karaosmanoğlu, a faculty member from our university, conducted a forum theatre workshop titled “And You’ll Be a Girl” with students at Bağlıca Anatolian High School on June 16, 2025.

Focusing on gender discrimination and inequality, the forum process included warm-up games, trust-building exercises, and various improvisations and enactments. The students’ own experiences with gender roles, inequalities at school and home, exclusion, labeling, and being silenced were brought to the stage through their expressions.

In the second part of the workshop, the images, scenes, and improvisations were presented to the audience in the forum theatre format. During this process, the audience transformed from passive spectators into active participants who intervened in the play, entered the stage, offered solutions, and empathized with the characters.

We extend our gratitude to the students and teachers of Bağlıca Anatolian High School, to English Teacher Özlem Işık, and to our esteemed faculty member for this valuable work.
